We would like to inform you that the rulebook for the 2026/2027 season is now available on our website.
There have been only a few changes in the Cheerleading section. However, several important updates have been made in the Performance Cheer section. We therefore strongly recommend that you consult the updated rulebook carefully and take the changes into account when preparing for the new season.
New Procedure for Rules Questions
As usual, questions regarding a skill must be submitted according to the requirements published on the Rules website and must allow for a clear answer of LEGAL or ILLEGAL.
All other questions regarding the rulebook or performances must be sent to the Rules Committee at rules@swisscheer.ch.
From the 2026/2027 season onwards, the new following procedure will apply:
Once a team has submitted a skill and the SCA has approved it, the team must bring the approved question and the official answer to the respective competition.
As part of the briefing before each competition, the Safety Judges will be informed of all approved questions so that they can take them into account when judging.
Should the Safety Judges nevertheless issue a deduction for a skill that has been approved by the SCA, the team may present the approved question and official answer when the coaches are called to the judges’ table.
If the approval applies to the situation performed at the competition, the deduction will be removed.
This new procedure has been introduced in response to feedback from our clubs. We hope it will provide greater clarity, support teams and coaches in their competition preparations, and help prevent misunderstandings or errors during competitions.

Please ensure that the relevant coaches, officials and other responsible people within your club are informed accordingly.
Further Rules Education Opportunities
The ICU Judges Education Course taking place on 12–13 September will be a valuable opportunity to gain a better understanding of safety and rules-related matters and how to understand scoresheets better in order to plan routines from a judge’s perspective. It is also suitable for coaches and other interested persons who do not intend to become active judges. You can find all relevant information here.
Furthermore, we recommend that anyone who feels unsure about the rules complete the ICU online module Rules Comprehension Course. The module provides a useful overview of the relevant rules and their practical application. It is available through the ICU’s eTrainU platform and can be completed independently at your own pace.
In addition, the videos from the 2025 Rules Workshop are available again on the Rules website. The videos are password-protected and accessible to SCA members only. For access please email rules@swisscheer.ch.
